Three things make this stretch of coast different from inland Florida, and all three shorten equipment life.
Salt air. From Tarpon Springs up through Hudson Beach and Aripeka, condenser coils and their aluminium fins corrode. A near-shore or canal-front system can lose efficiency and fail years earlier than the identical unit five miles inland, and it shows up as weak cooling long before it shows up as a breakdown.
Old housing. Hudson’s median home was built in the early-to-mid 1980s and roughly 90 percent of its housing predates 2000. Most of what we work on is on its second or third system, with original ductwork.
Runtime. The nearest official weather station, Tampa International, records a 1991 to 2020 normal of 3,611 cooling degree days against 433 heating degree days. Better than eight to one. Equipment here accumulates roughly double the runtime of the same equipment in a four-season climate, which is why we recommend service twice a year rather than once.
